What is an authorized consignee?

An authorized consignee may receive goods under a transit procedure at an approved location and end the procedure there.

An authorized consignee is a company with a customs authorization that may receive goods under a transit procedure at an approved location without the goods first having to be presented at the customs office of destination. This can simplify import and transit processes.

The arrangement is particularly relevant when goods are transported under transit procedures such as T1 or T2. Arrival at an authorized location can make the procedure easier to complete in a plannable way and prepare the subsequent customs treatment.

For international transports, an authorized consignee can reduce waiting times and make clearance more predictable. GLOBALSPED takes such consignee structures into account when coordinating route, documents and customs processes.
