What is the difference between FTL and LTL transport?

FTL is a full truck load, while LTL is a partial load. The right solution depends on shipment volume, transit time, destination region and customs requirements.

FTL means Full Truck Load and describes a transport where a truck is used completely or exclusively for one shipment. LTL stands for Less Than Truck Load and is suitable for partial loads where several shipments are combined.

FTL is often faster, more direct and easier to control because there are fewer handling points. LTL can be more cost-efficient when a full truck load is not required, but it requires more precise planning of transit time, consolidation and documentation.

For transports to Central Asia, the Caucasus or the Middle East, the right solution depends on shipment volume, deadline, customs requirements, risk and budget. GLOBALSPED checks FTL and LTL options based on the specific shipment data.
