Central Asia

What is the northern route to Central Asia?

The northern route to Central Asia runs via Russia and may be relevant depending on goods, destination country, transit requirements and legal framework conditions.

The northern route describes truck transports from Europe to Central Asia via Russia. Depending on starting point and destination, the route may pass through different EU external borders, Belarus, Russia and then onward to Kazakhstan or other Central Asian countries.

This route can be geographically more direct than alternative corridors, but it must always be evaluated with regard to goods, destination country, transit regulations, current legal requirements, document requirements and operational framework conditions. Not every shipment is automatically suitable for this route.

Whether the northern route can be used depends, among other things, on type of goods, consignee country, customs procedure, export eligibility, permit requirements and possible sanctions requirements. The review of export eligibility, permit requirements and possible legal restrictions is the responsibility of the sender, exporter or client. GLOBALSPED organizes the transport based on the information provided and checks transport-related feasibility.
