Who is responsible for the information in customs documents?

The sender, exporter or client is responsible for goods information, HS code, goods value, origin and product-related information.

The sender, exporter or client is generally responsible for the accuracy of goods information, HS codes or commodity codes, goods value, origin, permit requirements and product-related information. This information forms the basis for customs clearance.

A freight forwarder can organize customs documents or arrange for them to be created based on the information provided, but it does not replace the exporter’s professional responsibility for correct goods and product data. Incorrect information can cause queries, waiting times, delays or additional costs.

GLOBALSPED supports transport-related customs coordination and points out required information. However, the quality of customs clearance depends significantly on complete and correct information from the client.
