Central Asia

Which route is better: southern route or northern route?

Whether the southern or northern route is better depends on goods, destination country, customs, transit time, transit countries and operational feasibility.

There is no generally better route for transports to Central Asia. The suitable route always depends on the specific shipment. Important factors include destination, type of goods, weight, volume, desired transit time, customs clearance, transit countries, current border situation, permit requirements, legal requirements and availability of suitable vehicles.

The southern route can make sense when transports via Russia should be avoided or when the destination region can be reached well via the corridor Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea. However, it requires precise planning of transit countries, port processes, ferry connection and documents.

The northern route may be more direct depending on the relation, but it must always be assessed in view of current legal and operational framework conditions. GLOBALSPED evaluates southern route and northern route based on the specific transport data and organizes international truck transports to Central Asia based on the provided shipment and customs information.
