What does the 1000-point rule mean in ADR transport?
The 1000-point rule is an ADR simplification where dangerous goods points per transport unit are calculated.
The 1000-point rule is an ADR simplification for certain dangerous goods transports in packages when the calculated dangerous goods quantity per transport unit remains below the permitted limit. It is based on the transport category, quantity and factor of the respective dangerous goods.
It is not simply a matter of weight or volume. Depending on the dangerous goods, the quantity is multiplied by a factor; the total must not exceed 1000 points if the simplification is to be used.
Important: below 1000 points, the shipment is not automatically “not dangerous goods”. Certain ADR obligations remain in place. GLOBALSPED requires complete information from the sender in order to align transport planning accordingly.
