What does oral customs declaration mean in export?
An oral customs declaration may be possible for certain smaller export shipments, but still requires correct goods information.
An oral customs declaration is a simplified form of customs declaration that may be possible for certain export shipments with low value or low weight. It does not replace the obligation to provide correct and traceable goods information.
In practice, this often concerns smaller consignments, provided there are no permit requirements, prohibitions, restrictions or embargo requirements preventing it. Even for simplified exports, invoice or pro forma invoice, goods description, weight, goods value, consignee and origin must be traceable.
GLOBALSPED can check during transport planning whether a shipment needs special customs preparation. Whether an oral declaration is possible must always be assessed based on the specific goods, route and current requirements.
