What is the difference between a single-stage and a two-stage export procedure?
In the two-stage export procedure, customs office of export and customs office of exit are involved; in the single-stage procedure, the customs office of exit is used directly.
In the two-stage export procedure, two customs offices are generally involved: the customs office of export and the customs office of exit. The goods are first declared at the responsible customs office of export and, after release, presented at the customs office of exit where they leave the customs territory of the EU.
In the single-stage export procedure, the declaration is made directly at the customs office of exit. This procedure may be possible under certain conditions for smaller shipments. Whether a single-stage or two-stage procedure can be used depends on goods value, type of goods, route, destination country and possible exclusion criteria.
GLOBALSPED takes such customs framework conditions into account during transport planning so that export, route and customs office of exit can be coordinated appropriately.
