What does small quantity mean in dangerous goods transport?
Small quantity is a practical term for small dangerous goods quantities, but it can refer to different ADR simplifications.
Small quantity is a practical term and not a uniform ADR term. Companies often use it to refer to small dangerous goods quantities that may fall under an ADR simplification.
Depending on goods, packaging and quantity, this can mean different things: transport under 1000 points, Limited Quantity or Excepted Quantity. These regulations differ significantly and must not be treated as the same.
For a transport request, the term “small quantity” alone is therefore not sufficient. GLOBALSPED needs complete ADR data such as UN number, ADR class, packing group, quantity, packaging type and safety data sheet in order to classify the shipment organizationally.
