When is a FIATA BL required?
A FIATA BL is mainly required when a bank, letter of credit, buyer, trade transaction or multimodal transport structure requires it.
A FIATA BL is not required for every truck transport. For classic international road freight transport, the CMR consignment note is usually sufficient as the central transport document.
However, a FIATA BL may be required if the customer, a bank, a letter of credit, the buyer or a specific trade transaction requests such a document. It can also become relevant in multimodal transport chains involving several modes of transport.
Whether a FIATA BL is required should be clarified before transport begins. It is important that the requirements from purchase contract, letter of credit, delivery term, bank instructions and transport structure are clearly available. GLOBALSPED can take transport-related document requirements into account as part of transport organization.
